You've seen "handmade" on almost every soap label at this point. So it's fair to ask what the word actually covers, because "handmade" at a 500-employee factory doesn't mean the same thing it does here.
Here, handmade means two women in a studio in Chilliwack, BC. That's the whole company. Nat and Kerri โ both of us โ measure, mix, pour, cut, cure, and pack every bar that reaches you.
What "small batch" actually means when you're two people
It's not a marketing size. It's the size that fits on a bench.
Every bar starts with each oil weighed by hand on a small scale, one at a time. Every batch is cold-processed โ slow, low heat, the traditional way โ and then it goes on the curing rack for a full 30 days before we're willing to send it anywhere. That cure isn't optional; it's what turns a soft, freshly-made loaf into a firm, long-lasting, gentle bar. Skip it and you get the mush a hurried factory bar becomes in the shower.
Then it's hand-cut and hand-stamped with our logo. Not machine-pressed. Which is why your bar's edges aren't perfectly identical to the next one โ and why we prefer it that way.
The ingredients that go in every one
Small operation, generous formula. Every Fresh Suds bar leads with 40%+ olive oil and aloe in place of water in the base. Zero palm oil, zero fillers, zero shortcuts. When you're making it yourself, you can afford to put the good stuff in every single one.
Why we tell you this
Because when you buy a bar, you should know who made it. That bar was on our racks last month. One of us cut it. One of us wrapped it. One of us packed it in the mailer. If something's wrong when it arrives, the email you send about it goes to one of us, and one of us writes back.
Our 90-day Worry-Free Guarantee comes from the same place: prepaid return, no questions. In 3,200+ orders, we've had exactly one return. Not because we're perfect โ because we care what leaves the studio.
Come find Kerri at a Lower Mainland farmers or craft market and pick one up in person.
Or start with a single: Purple Mallee is a customer favourite, and Rosemary Daydream is the one weโre proudest of the craft on.
